Monday and Tuesday Morning

Sorry this is late! We had a change of schedules because of the heat!

Monday was the SERVANTS first day of work, they headed out at 8:00am to start their jobs and got to enjoy a pretty cool morning, but that soon went away when the afternoon came. All of the groups worked very hard even through the heat, they all want to make sure their work site gets done. After work almost all of them went to the swimming pool to cool off during some extra free time while others just relaxed at the school. After supper we went to Praise and Worship and heard a message from our speaker Joe. Joe talked about how God has given us Peace so that we can live! Joe's message was really impacting and it set a great tone for them to go to their small groups. We ended the night with root beer floats and a schedule change!

Due to the Kansas heat the leaders along with the Host Team Coordinator have decided to rearrange the schedule so that the youth have a better chance to work during the cool hours of the morning to try and get as much work done as possible. So now instead of waking up at 6:45am we are waking up at 6:00am to try and get them to their work sties earlier. The youth are all taking this change with great attitudes and we couldn't ask for a better set of workers! I've yet to hear a complaint, though this trend might not continue after today! Today is also supposed to be the hottest day of our week so please pray that all of the SERVANTS will be safe as they go about their work and that they can endure the heat knowing that they are showing the love of Christ through their actions this week, also thank God for such an awesome group of youth and adults that are so willing to work! We couldn't have asked for a better group!

All of the groups are now at their work sites, tonight the leaders will be getting a special surprise treat along with their leaders night out to a local Bed and Breakfast, while the youth will get a chance to go bowling! It should be a fun-filled night for everyone and they deserve it after working so hard!

We also have pictures from Monday up on our Flickr page, follow the link below to check out what they have been doing this week so far!

As you look at pictures you might also see some pink flamingos pop up, there's a reason! This year we are "Flocking" yards in the community to raise money for SERVE, we have done this each night so far. We "Flock" 3 yards a night and then the next day whoever we flocked calls us with the name of someone they would like us to "Flock" along with a donation. This has been nothing but FUN and successful, the kids really get into it, and the community enjoys it as much as them!
