Day Away

I'm blogging you from Wilson Lake where everyone has been having a great time boating and swimming, all of the kids are starting to get a little tired from working so hard the past couple days but I think they are having a great time! Even with the Kansas heat! We'll add some pictures later tonight or tomorrow morning, but we're getting ready to go have some supper and go to praise and worship.

Wednesday/Day Away

Hey All! It's Jodi, I am in awe of this group! I can't say it enough, honestly! The leaders are all doing a great job and it was so great to hang out with them last night and get to know each of them more! I hope they enjoyed their night out at the Scenic River Bend Bed and Breakfast! We enjoyed great fellowship with one another and a good meal as well! The kids are extraordinary, I rarely hear them complain about this brutal heat we are having and almost all of them are very receptive of the earlier wake up times! We are so thankful for each one of them, honestly!
The kids went bowling and I hear that they had a great time!
We ended our evening with Praise and Worship and Small Group time, many small groups didn't stay together very long because they were exhausted! (understandably so!) We had a slideshow of the days photos along with brownies and ice cream! :) So yummy after a day of HOT WORK!
The groups are all at work sites now working their tails off! I've been to many sites to day to check out their work and most of them seem to be having a great time and are having a lot of progress! After lunch we are heading to the lake so I better go for now, I've got SOOOO Many things to get done before we leave!
We are so thankful for our community for all of the support they have given to us! Through monetary donations, bring food/snacks/and drink in, and for the prayers that they have given for this wonderful mission! This SERVE will for sure be going down in the History Book, we might even have to host another one in a year or so! :) (I HOPE THE REST OF THE GANG WILL BE ON BOARD)
I am exhausted from Late Late Night and EARLY Mornings but the rewards of this are SO wonderful and I know that many lives will be changed this week and make each of us stronger in our walk with Christ! We appreciate all of the Prayers and well wishes, we cannot say THANKS Enough!

I hope this finds each one of you well! I promise we are taking good care of each one of  your kids, husbands, wives, friends, parents, or whoever is here that you are thinking of! We do our best to treat them like Kings and Queens! :)

Tuesday

To say we have GREAT workers doesn't even begin to explain how GREAT they actually are! I don't know many teenagers that are willing to wake up at 6:00am to go and work, but these guys didn't complain once! Amazing! The morning was pretty warm and the afternoon was even hotter, but all of the groups still worked so hard! We are starting to really see some improvement on the houses and we cannot wait to see our final products! After working most of the youth went to the pool and the leaders headed to the Leaders Night Out where they were treated to massages, our leaders are so amazing, they really deserved it! While the leaders had their own kind of fun, the kids were treated to bowling with the band and our speaker Joe! The kids had a great time just getting to have some fun and relax, and from what I hear the leaders had a pretty great evening too! After bowling, the leaders and youth met up at Praise and Worship to end the night. Tonight Joe talked about not seeing through people, no matter the circumstances, it was a great message and everyone in the room could relate to what he was saying. The small groups are also really getting to know each other, and are starting to make bonds that will last beyond this week! It's so awesome to see the kids come out of their shell and support each other.

Tomorrow we are heading to the lake in the afternoon to enjoy a day-off, which they more than deserve! They will have a chance to go boating, swimming, and play sand volleyball, they will  also get a chance to go to Kansas Originals, a store with all Kansas made products. We will then wrap-up the day with Praise and Worship at the lake.

Overall our week has started off great and we can't wait to see what else God has in store for us!
