Good evening friends and family! It's been a great day here at Heartland SERVE, it rained last night and this morning but it didn't put much of a damper on things around here! I got the gang about an extra 15 minutes of sleep this morning because I said we should give them a little rest because I checked the radar and saw a little bit more rain coming! So they can thank me, but also... I'm in charge of the very annoying wake up calls that have included- an AIR HORN, WATER GUNS, BANGING OF POTS AND PANS, AN ANNOYING ROOSTER CROW, AND TERRIBLE SINGING FROM DON AND BEN! But it's been fun and nobody has hurt me yet! It's rather surprising I would say! :)
The poor Meyer Twins.... I'm driving them crazy! They are sooo quiet and sweet and my loud mouth keeps bugging them more and more! But I got Zach to play the guitar in the talent show! He did great, I'm so glad he did it! :)
The day started out with kids working very hard, with the weather being very nice for what it has been! So we took it. A few of the guys said it was like Minnesota, it rained tonight so I'm thinking it's for sure Minnesota weather now! It's quite humid, this is not completely normal for dry ole' Kansas! The weather soon got blistering HOT and it was also humid but the kids stuck it out and did their best! After lunch when we went on our snack run, we stopped at the site of the roofing crew, there I saw poor Carter and Grace at the top of the roof sweating to no end! I told them to get down and get a freezie or ice cream but they stayed up a little longer to finish what they were doing! I was proud of them but also worried because the roof is a little steep and also it was really really warm! But they were okay, and had great attitudes! A lot of them finished their projects so they are going to help others tomorrow and a few are starting a small new site! I'm sure the kids are discouraged and would rather do something more fun than keep on working but I think they have figured out how much of a slave driver us Kansas folk are! But I'm sure they will do the jobs gladly!
After the work sites a few went swimming and some practiced on their acts for the Talent show! I will admit, this was one of the BEST Talent Show's in the history of Heartland SERVE! It was fun, stay posted! We will be trying to get videos on ASAP! It was fun, there were piano acts, a guitar duel, a rap, funny skit, and another something that I don't know what to call! :) It was great! It was fun! :)
The evening ended with Praise and Worship, it was great and I feel like every night it keeps getting better for everyone, I'm very sad that it's about to be over! It's been great fun and I hope that each of the people here are feeling the presence of God this week and will continue to throughout their lives!
I can't say enough about this group of people that God has sent us! It's been great/amazing/fun/wild/crazy/and SO Many more things! It's been great getting to know each one of these special people and I hope that in some way we as a Host Team have impacted their lives in some way! It's been fun treating them to things and watching them grow each and every day! The groups seem to have bonded very well and it's amazing to see all of these things work out in Gods Perfect Plan! It's been a great experience for me and I hope that each of you will hear the same stories from those you love when they return to their homes! It's been an amazing experience!
They have tested my patience many many times! But it's a learning experience for me as well! :) They have also found my soft spots and have gotten stuck into my heart! :) These kids and leaders are AMAZING! I'm going to miss them all so very much...... :( But it's been a great experience and we couldn't have asked for a much better group!
I hope each of you have enjoyed reading this blog and looking at the pictures, we are doing our best to get more on and put videos on as well! We hope you enjoy this! Sorry we are such slackers, we do so much during the day it's hard to find ample time to get everything accomplished! When the SERVANTS are around I do my best to interact with them to help build relationships with them. So I guess that is possibly why I slack on our Blog here, so please forgive me!
All in all, it's been an outstanding week and I'm sad that it will soon be coming to a close.....
Thanks for all of your well wishes and prayers, we appreciate them very much!
