SUNDAY!

Hello visitors of the Heartland SERVE Blog! We hope you are enjoying this Blog and our Facebook page as well. Sorry we are not updating it more often! We are just having tooooo much fun with your children/friends! The group here is great, keeping us on our toes at all times! Today events were fun, we tried to forget about the heat and just have a lot of fun with the SERVANTS!
A word or so that describes each group! I just do this for fun, no offense to be taken! I am loving each of our SERVANTS!

Michigan- Very Friendly/(Willing to meet new people!)
Minnesota- Polite and Caring! (we had 2 at our home for dinner) might have been a culture shock! :)
Ontario-  CRAZY! and Canadian :/ Unpredictable
South Dakota- Hyper! SILLY BOYS

We are having soooooo much fun with ALL of them! Their personalities are all unique and it's fun getting to know them! Some of the girls have been quiet, they say they are tired and worn out so hopefully they are getting some good sleep!

Today we started out with breakfast and devotions! (pancakes were on the menu)
We then went to church at Dispatch Christian Reformed Church. It is about 7 miles from the school we are staying at. It's in a peaceful country setting! A few boys asked why anyone would build a church in the middle of nowhere, I explained that it once was a little town many year ago! We had a Litany Service to WELCOME all of the SERVE Team.
After Church they went with their prayer partners for the week and enjoyed the fellowship of one another! It's fun to hear their stories! A few of the kids went the the Continental center of the US so that's neat! I've lived here all my life and am yet to go there! ;)
After they met with their prayer partners we had an AMAZING RACE! It was a lot of fun and they were very competitive! They traveled around to each of the work sites to see what others would be working on. They also had a few tourist stops to make along the way! Including THE WORLDS LARGEST BALL OF TWINE! :) I'm sure they were impressed with that. This was a great chance for them to get to know their small groups a little better and have a fun time challenging one another! After that a few choose to cool off in the city pool while the others played basketball and games around the school!
Supper tonight was Smoked Brisket and Pork Loin, it sure was Yummy, we also had potatoes and beans! It doesn't get more KANSAS than that - Meat and Potatoes! :)
After supper we had a community worship service where the Speaker for the week Joe Skillen and THE BAND were introduced to everyone! It was a great time of fellowship throughout the day! After the service we had small groups and snacks and a power-point! The snack was HOMEMADE PIE and Ice Cream! Can you say SPOILED??!! We do our best to treat our SERVANTS like Kings and Queens around here! :)

Our first day is almost over!

All of our SERVANTS arrived safely and our now settling in, they have had a very busy day so far! They had a chance to swim when they got here and then after supper we headed to the county fair and they got to experience a little bit of rural life with their small groups while completing a scavenger hunt. We came back to the school and did some mixers to get to know each other a little better and we ended the night with a slideshow of a few pictures from the day. They have also been experiencing our great Kansas heat! (Complete Sarcasm intended) It was over 100 today and it looks like it could be that way all week, but we know that God is good and he always provides! We are also thanking God that all of our participants arrived safely! Tomorrow we will have a very busy day, we're going to church as a group then all of the kids will be going to their prayer partners homes for dinner. In the afternoon they are going to do a group activity and travel to each of the different work sites for the week, so that they can see everyone's work sites before they start working on them. To finish off the day we are having a community worship service in the park with our praise band and speaker. So far everything has been GREAT to say the least! We have wonderful participants, wonderful leaders, wonderful volunteers, and a wonderful host team, that we cannot thank God enough for! Please continue praying for us that we may have good weather, great fellowship, and an overall great week! Sorry this is so late!
